Transport Upgrades for Arise
The Brisbane Metro project has continued to move forth in its construction within the Rochedale area with a delivery date expected to be in mid-2023.
The completed project will significantly increase transport access for residents of Arise, particularly with the development of the Brisbane Metro Depot. The depot is situated a mere 2.5kms from the entrance of Arise.
Once completed, the Depot will house 60 fully electric vehicles produced by world-leading vehicle manufacturer HESS, in conjunction with Brisbane based manufacturer Volgren.
The depot will be one of the biggest and most technologically advanced facilities within Australia, with the fleet facilitating travel across Brisbane in association with existing bus services.
The fleet developed by HESS is a ‘green’ step in the right direction, vehicles are equipped with an advanced battery fuel source with zero tailpipe emissions. This sits in line with Brisbane City’s climate goals of reducing emissions by 30% by 2030.
Arise residents will have premier access to this new fleet and a new station being developed in Rochedale (9-minute drive from Arise) as part of Pacific Motorway (M1) upgrades being completed by The Department of Transport and Main Roads.
The new Rochedale station is a part of the South East Busway extension upgrade and is situated between Eight Mile Plains and Springwood bus station (see map for location), expected to be completed in 2024.
The new Rochedale station will also include park ‘n’ ride facilities with capacity for more than 400 vehicles, offering a new opportunity of active transport for residents of Arise.
It’s an exciting prospect to have such a progressive and technologically advanced project on the doorstep of Arise. Residents can look forward to enjoying the benefits of the Brisbane Metro once construction concludes in 2023.
